Day 3 of the Pure Vision Office Olympics brought us a heated game of mini stick hockey. Sticks at the ready, athletes went head to head in classic shoot-out form. A tense game of rock, paper, scissors determined who was in net for each round. Each player was allowed three shots at net, with the highest number of goals advancing to the semi-finals. The three winners of the semi-finals then battled it out for the highest number of goals against each other for medal standings.
We used a toddler’s hockey net, stress ball for the puck and painter’s tape for the goal crease. A camera set up behind the net served as a video replay when things got intense. Our hallway also proved to be an excellent arena with glass boards for spectators.
Here’s how the games went down:
In the first round of games, players were selected at random. In a battle of long limbs Nic beat out real-life hockey player Nike, and Kris and Nicole went into a sudden death shoot-out where Nicole beat out hockey superfan Kris. Matt and Renee opted for extra hockey gear, but the cool looks didn’t win them any points on the rink.
Winners from Round 1 included Jerry, Jenn, Nic, Nathan, Anya and Nicole. In a strange turn of events the girls beat out the guys leading to an all girls final round. Those tough faces mean business!
In the final round Jenn lost to Nic and Nicole, finishing in third place with two goals. Nic and Nicole tied with four shots and went into a sudden death shootout (for 6 rounds!), with Nicole scoring the winning goal for the gold medal.
Good job ladies! Check back nest week for results from our longboard skeleton event.
