We’re Playing Games (Again!) to Heal Kids With Extra Life

You heard it here first! Us KEENers are taking on Extra Life again, with a few new faces joining the team.

Extra Life unites thousands of players around the world in a 24-hour fundraising and gaming marathon to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since it began in 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $30 million for sick and injured kids in North America.

This year we will be dedicating a ‘day of play’ on November 4th for 24-hours to raise money for the Stollery Children’s Hospital. That’s right, our team of KEEN gamers will pledge to play games for 24-hours straight and raise money for the Stollery Hospital. 100% of our donations stay local to fund critical treatments, healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. Last year our team raised just under $2000 and this year we have set some ambitious stretch goals. If we can reach $2300, we will be completing a group horror game session (half of our team is terrified by this, while the other half can’t wait), and will dedicate ourselves to a 12-hour Just Dance marathon if we manage to raise $5000!

We are also excited to announce a new addition to this year’s game lineup — Virtual Reality! To see all this and more, you can follow along with us on our live stream. Some games we are gearing up to play includes Diablo 3, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and of course The Sims (for some of us not-so-avid gamers).

To date we have raised $1,280 as a team and are optimistic we will be able to reach our goals come game day, with help from people like you!

You can donate here and we can’t wait to get gaming for the Stollery Children’s Hospital!
