What is your name/nicknames?
My name is Nicole, but my KEEN name is Nic. I grew up with various nicknames like Nickle Pickle, Neeeeecolahhhh, Slimmy, and Nikki Krikke.
How would you describe your position?
I do what I love on a daily basis – how many people can say that? I work with an incredibly talented team to problem solve and create thoughtful design.
What are your academic credentials?
I graduated from the Visual Communications Design program at MacEwan University with a major in Design & Illustration. I also read 100 novels in one year. I’m pretty sure that counts for something?
What do you do in your spare time?
I read gazillions of books, I entertain good friends over a bottle of prosecco (or two), I write a blog, and I spend as much time with my husband, my family and friends as possible. That’s in the summer. In the winter I’m a hibernating recluse and I fall asleep on the couch by 8pm.
Who or what inspires you and why?
I’m going to open up a big jar of cheese and say my MOM! She went to MacEwan for Fine Art and constantly did art projects with me while I was growing up, inspiring my love of all things creative.
Can you do any stupid human tricks?
I can touch my tongue to my nose!
If you were an animal, what would you be?
A friend in high school art class drew me as a gazelle once. I think that would be fun, except I’m really clumsy. I’d probably get eaten by a lion on my first day.
What are your top 3 favorite movies?
The Princess Bride, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and anything by Disney/Pixar. I get really competitive when playing Disney Scene It.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I entertained the idea of many occupations while growing up – teacher, CSI, astronomer, interior decorator. From high school on, I knew I wanted to be a designer so I loaded up on creative classes.
Where would you time travel and what would you do there?
I’d go to a 1930’s speakeasy, and I’d dance the night away in a bedazzled gown and feathered headband while drinking illegal, tasty nectar of the Gods. I have a serious love affair with the Jazz age and Art Deco. Yes, this is seriously what I would do…travel back in time to party old school style.
